We were feeling “plaidtastic” at South Jefferson today! 🤩 I love how our community participates and has fun!

We were feeling festive today at SJES!

Congratulations to Addison Kiser for her Positive Office Referral! Addison was nominated by her teacher, Mrs. Hipp, who shared that Addison is always working hard in class, following directions and being prepared to learn every day. What a great role model you are, Addison! 💛💜

South Jefferson celebrated with snuggly scarves and snowmen gear! ⛄️

Third grader, Judge Bowman, was nominated for a Positive Office Referral by his teacher. Judge, according to Mrs. Mangum, chooses to straighten up the classroom at the end of the day, putting away supplies and throwing away trash. This kindness and help always deserves to be recognized and celebrated! Well done, Judge! 💜💛

Congratulations to Jackie Jenkins, who received a Positive Office Referral from Mr. Atkins. Jackie helped him put glow in the dark tape on every scooter in the gym (for a fun activity for his students) and then he witnessed Jackie helping another student pick up the items that he dropped in the hallway. Two exceptional kindnesses in one day—-awesome, Jackie! 💛💜

Red and white “candy cane” day at SJES! ♥️🤍

Hard work, dedication and focus pays off for fourth grader, Caleb Benner. Caleb was nominated by his teacher, who shares that Caleb remembered that he had to complete a project that was started before our fall break. He worked through study halls to get everything completed, all on his own. Super proud of your work ethic, Caleb! A great example for us all! 💜💛

🎉 Celebrating the hardworking JCS students who made the first quarter Honor Roll! Check out the full list of honorees here: https://www.jcswv.org/page/honor-roll. Congratulations to these students for their dedication to academic excellence—keep up the amazing work! 💪📚

Today brings a Positive Office Referral for third grader, Deklin Brown! Deklin was nominated by his teacher for coming to school prepared and organized EVERY day, for putting his whole heart and mind into learning and for being kind. Sounds like an exceptional role model to me! Well done, Deklin!! 💜💛

❄️ We hear you, JCS families! Going forward, we’ll make weather-related robocalls until 9PM, giving you more time to plan for the following day. If a decision isn’t made the night before, all notifications will go out by 6AM the following morning. A quick reminder: safety is our top priority! When snow is in the forecast, we closely monitor weather and road conditions with local and state agencies to ensure safe travel. We aim to make all decisions the night before, but if needed, our team checks conditions early in the morning to determine if a delay or closure is needed. Read more about this process here 👉 https://www.jcswv.org/page/delays-and-closings. Thanks for your understanding as we prioritize safety for everyone! 🌨️🚍

JCS Families: All Jefferson County Schools (Pre-K-12) will operate on a 2-hour delay on Thursday, December 5, 2024, due to inclement weather.

Our fourth grade classes wrapped up their study of the Middle Ages with a Renaissance Festival at SJES. The students rotated through stations, trying their hand at archery, jousting, spear-throwing, checkers and Lego castle-building. Thank you to our fourth grade team, our parent volunteers and the Jefferson County Parks and Rec for bringing the Middle Ages and our festival to life for our students.

American Education Week wrap up: SJES Spirit Day! We love our school! 💜💛🥳

A yearly tradition at SJES: three fourth grade students are selected (one from each class) to help decorate the tree at United Bank, one of our business partners. This year, Zoey Traywick, Koal Cook and Emileigh Wellman were selected by their teachers to bring the holiday spirit to the bank’s tree, just in time for the upcoming Christmas parade. A huge thank you to our classes for creating beautiful ornaments for the tree! What a fun tradition! 🎄💜💛

American Education Week: We “tipped our hats” to someone who impacted us/our educational journey.
Hat day at SJES! 🧢👒🎩🪖

American Education Week: “Education is Teamwork” jersey day!

A Positive Office Referral was presented to Violet Rawlings for the way that she helped a friend through a rough time. She is always sweet, helpful and kind! Well done, Violet!

When you look up the word “kindness”, you will see Kennedy Carroll’s picture. Kennedy knew that her class would welcome a new student this week so she brought in a card for all of her classmates to sign, to welcome him to SJES. His face, when he opened that card, was priceless. Thank you, Kennedy, for reminding us to be welcoming and kind and for being an exemplary role model. You definitely have earned a Positive Office Referral! 💜💛

JCS Families: All JCS schools will be closed from Monday, November 25th to Friday, November 29th for Fall Break. Students will return on Monday, December 2nd. Have a wonderful Fall Break!
